The best of the DIRECTV primetime lineup

If it started within BC on TV’s 6pm-10pm primetime, one of the coolest films ever shot – T2: Judgement Day (5.33pm TCM) – would have been in contention.

Today’s Number One Film:

Picture courtesy Comic VineDamien: The Omen II, 9.40pm Fox Classics. Watch this if you liked The Others, The Exorcist or A Nightmare on Elm Street. The first Omen film was one of the best spooky horrors ever shot; its sequel is almost every bit as good. Damien picks up ten years after The Omen left off, with the young teenaged boy of the title finding out just what Destiny has in store for him. Everything that made the original so watchable – nail-biting tension, huge atmosphere, genuine human sympathy for the poor Devil set up to fulfil the Book – is as good as or better in the sequel. The spectacular death scenes include one that might have inspired those in the Final Destination films. Be warned, though, this is a horror that, for the right person, can easily make falling asleep very hard. Directed by Don Taylor/ 1978/ USA / Horror-Thriller/ 107 mins/ R.
